Corporate challenges
Wellable alternatives in 2026: 8 options compared for Canadian employers
- Wellable offers 40+ challenges and 2,500+ classes, but its app is only in English and Spanish.
- Wellable requires at least 25 users, a one-year contract and an implementation fee.
- In Canada, three criteria separate the options: French in the app, data hosting and the contract.
- Few vendors publish a full price, so compare the total first-year cost.
- Propulsion hosts health data in Canada; at Fromagerie Bergeron, 78.8% of employees took part.
Wellable is one of the most frequently cited wellness platforms when an HR team looks for workplace challenges. It is a solid product, designed first for US employers. In Canada, three questions come up at signing time: will French-speaking employees get an app in their language, where will their activity data be hosted, and does the contract fit the size of the organization?
This comparison presents eight alternatives sorted by need, each with one fact verified on the vendor's own site and one limitation to know about. Propulsion is on the list: we say so openly, and every option is assessed against the same criteria. Information was verified in October 2026; offers change, so confirm them in a demo.
What Wellable actually offers
Wellable is a US company based in Boston. Its pricing page lists 40+ customizable challenges, 2,500+ on-demand classes, 250+ weekly breaks and a rewards component (gift cards, donations, peer recognition). Coaching, biometric screenings, single sign-on and HRIS import are add-ons.
On the contract side, Wellable requires at least 25 users, a one-year term renewing annually and a one-time implementation fee. The per-user price decreases as user count grows. On the App Store, the app is offered in English and Spanish, without French.
Three criteria specific to Canadian employers
- French in the app: a translated website is not enough. Check the language of the app itself, its notifications and its content. Bilingual workforces are common across the country, and in Quebec the Charter of the French Language also governs employer communications with staff.
- Data hosting: activity data is personal information. PIPEDA applies to the private sector across Canada, and in Quebec, Law 25 requires a privacy impact assessment before that data is communicated outside the province.
- Contract and currency: user minimums, commitment length, implementation fees and Canadian dollar billing change the real cost, especially for organizations under 100 employees.
8 Wellable alternatives, sorted by need
Propulsion: a bilingual year-round program, data in Canada
A Canadian team challenge platform in English and French. Challenges combine four modes (team challenge, collective goal, challenge for a cause, environmental challenge) and four metrics (steps, active minutes, distance, points). Health data is hosted in Canada, and the platform is ISO/IEC 27001 certified. Limitation: no public pricing; offers go through a demo.
Vantage Fit: multi-activity with Canadian French
Vantage Fit tracks 65 activity types and offers French and Canadian French in its language settings. Its pricing page publishes prices for 200 employees: US$1,600 for a four-week challenge on the basic plan. Limitation: prices are only published for 200 employees, and compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2) is shown as badges without detail.
YuMuuv: format variety, Canadian dollar billing
YuMuuv lists 18 challenge types, 47 languages and connections to Apple Health, Google Fit, Garmin, Polar and Suunto. Its pricing page allows billing in Canadian dollars, based on registered participants and challenge length. Limitation: no published per-user rate, and French in the app is not explicitly confirmed (the website is translated).
MoveSpring: the simple step challenge
MoveSpring was acquired by Reward Gateway in 2022. It focuses on step and activity challenges, without Wellable's broad classes and rewards component. Limitation: current pricing cannot be verified on the vendor's site, and French is not confirmed.
GoJoe: large organizations
GoJoe, a UK company, targets organizations of 500 to 100,000+ employees and lists 80+ weighted activities. It shows ISO 27001 certification and GDPR compliance. Limitation: challenge prices are not published, and the languages offered are not named.
Woliba: the small business that pays per use
New York-based Woliba includes 120+ pre-built activity challenges on its starter plan and bills on active users, with a US$100 monthly minimum. It states SOC 2 compliance. Limitation: the per-user rate only appears in the calculator, and languages are not specified.
Personify Health: very large employers
Personify Health was formed by the merger of Virgin Pulse and HealthComp and rebranded in February 2024. It says it serves more than 18 million members and combines wellbeing, health navigation and benefits administration. Limitation: the offer is built for large self-insured employers, with no public pricing.
Wellhub: gym access rather than challenges
Wellhub (formerly Gympass) gives access to 110,000+ gyms and studios and 90+ apps. It has a Canadian French site and shows ISO 27001 certification. Limitation: it is an access benefit, not a team challenge platform; it complements a challenge program rather than replacing it.

- Where is our employees' activity data hosted, and what can the employer see individually?
- Are the app, notifications and content available in French, or only the website?
- What is the total first-year cost, including implementation fees and add-ons, and in which currency?
- What is the minimum contract length, and what happens if our headcount changes?
- Can an employee without a smartwatch take part on equal footing?
The Propulsion model
Propulsion addresses the need for a turnkey year-round program in English and French. The phone counts steps; Apple Health, Samsung Health, Garmin and more connect; active minutes can be added manually. Organizations run the year's turnkey challenges or create their own in the portal, and a wellness spending account can be boosted based on participation.
Health data is hosted in Canada, the platform is ISO/IEC 27001 certified and compliant with Law 25, and its SOC 2 Type II audit is in progress. At Fromagerie Bergeron, a manufacturing employer, 78.8% of employees took part (see the case study). Employees are active in less than two weeks after the agreement. Frequently asked questions
What is the best Wellable alternative in Canada?
It depends on the need. For a year-round bilingual program with data hosted in Canada, Propulsion. For an international team that wants multi-activity challenges with Canadian French, Vantage Fit. For a simple step challenge, MoveSpring or one of the options in our step challenge app comparison.
Is Wellable available in French?
Not in the app. As of October 2026, Wellable's App Store listing shows English and Spanish. If some of your employees work in French, check the language of the app, notifications and content, not only the website.
How much do Wellable alternatives cost?
Few vendors publish a full price. Vantage Fit lists US$1,600 for a four-week challenge at 200 employees, Woliba a US$100 monthly minimum, and Wellhub an entry plan from US$1 per employee per month in the US. The others, including Propulsion, work on quote. Always compare the total first-year cost.
Can you leave Wellable before the end of the contract?
Wellable's standard contract lasts one year and renews annually. Plan the transition before the renewal date, request an export of your data and allow a few weeks to launch the new platform.
