Corporate wellness challenge
❤️ Heart Challenge
Every heartbeat counts. For 21 days in February, every active minute your organization logs becomes support for heart disease research. Cardio, gym, yoga, swimming — any activity that gets your heart pumping counts. Move for your heart and for the cause.
Why this challenge works
- Aligns with Heart Month (February) — institutional credibility
- Natural double meaning: cardiovascular health + heart/love (Valentine's)
- Active minutes convert into a real donation for heart disease research
- Indoor-friendly metric for the coldest month (gym, cardio, swimming, yoga)
- Second donation challenge in the catalog — balances with Pink October in fall
Every heartbeat counts
For 21 days in February, your organization moves for the heart — in every sense. Every active minute logged collectively brings you closer to a real donation for heart disease research and prevention. Cardio, gym, yoga, swimming, dancing — any activity that gets your heart pumping counts.
February is Heart Month in Canada, a national campaign to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease — the second leading cause of death in the country. By launching a challenge during this window, your organization joins a recognized movement while giving employees a personal reason to move: their own heart health.
How it works
Your organization sets a collective active minutes goal and a proportional donation commitment. Every employee logs their daily active minutes through the Propulsion app — any activity counts. The dashboard displays real-time collective progress. When the goal is reached, the donation is made to a heart health organization chosen by your committee.
Why active minutes in February?
February is the coldest month of the year. Running outside is tough. Cycling is off the table. But active minutes capture everything that happens indoors: a spinning class, a gym session, a yoga flow, a swim at the community pool, a dance class, even shovelling the driveway. Active minutes are the most versatile winter metric — they meet people wherever they choose to move.
And there's a beautiful irony: the activity that earns minutes for the challenge is the same activity that strengthens the organ the challenge supports. Every minute of cardio literally makes your heart stronger. The challenge and the cause are the same thing.
The Heart Month connection
Heart Month gives your wellness committee a ready-made narrative. The awareness campaign is already in the media, the messaging is already in the public conversation, and employees already associate February with heart health. Your challenge doesn't need to educate from scratch — it rides an existing wave of awareness and turns it into collective action.
Add Valentine's Day on February 14 and the heart imagery writes itself. This is the most naturally themed challenge in the calendar — the double meaning of "heart" makes it resonate on every level.
The cause effect
Like Octobre Rose, tying activity to a cause transforms participation. Employees who wouldn't join a standard fitness challenge will show up when their minutes become a donation. The motivation shifts from "I should exercise" to "my movement helps someone." That shift is the difference between 40% participation and 75%.
Impact visible
At the end of the challenge, the results are tangible: a real number of active minutes, a real donation made, and an organization that took its collective heart health seriously — while supporting those who need it most.
