What counts as an activity in Propulsion?
Short answer: much more than running. Propulsion is built so that a walk to the bus, a swim, gardening or a stretch break all count.
The four measures
| Measure | What it captures |
|---|---|
| Steps | Walking and running, counted by your phone or watch |
| Active minutes | Any effort that raises your heart rate: swimming, cycling, strength training, yoga, team sports, gardening, DIY |
| Distance | Walking, running and cycling |
| Activity points | The common currency, built from steps and active minutes |
Activities with no steps
These count fully, through active minutes:
- Swimming, aqua fitness
- Cycling, spinning, elliptical
- Strength training, pilates, yoga
- Team sports, climbing, martial arts
- Gardening, DIY, manual work
- Rowing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing
If your watch or app records the session, the active minutes reach Propulsion when you open the app. If not, record it manually.
Recording an activity manually
- Open My Activities
- Tap Add an activity
- Choose the type, duration and, if relevant, distance
- Save
Useful when your device was not worn, or for an activity your watch does not detect.
What does not count
- Time spent seated, even at a standing desk without movement
- Duplicate sessions, when two sources record the same workout
- Activities entered outside the challenge period
A note on fairness
A challenge is not won by the fittest. The daily cap means a 20-minute walk every day contributes more over two weeks than a single Sunday half-marathon.
