How do I connect Fitbit or Google Health to Propulsion?

Updated October 5, 2026

Fitbit is a direct Propulsion integration. The Fitbit app is now called Google Health, and Propulsion's Fitbit connector reads data from that app. So it also counts your steps without a watch, on an Android phone other than Samsung (Pixel, Motorola, etc.).

Without a watch, on Android (Pixel, Motorola, etc.)

  1. Download Google Health from the Play Store and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Accept the Physical activity permission and check that your steps show up in Google Health.
  3. In Propulsion, tap your avatar at the top left, then Settings (the gear at the top right), then Activity tracking, and choose Fitbit. This is normal, even without a Fitbit watch.
  4. Sign in with the same Google account, check every data category, then accept.

This is the method to use if Google Fit shows "This app is blocked": Google Fit is blocked.

With a Fitbit watch or tracker

1. Open activity tracking

In the Propulsion app, tap your avatar at the top left, then Settings (the gear at the top right), then Activity tracking.

2. Authorize

Tap Connect next to Fitbit. You'll be sent to Fitbit: sign in, check every data category, then accept.

Connect only one source at a time: if Google Fit or the pedometer was already connected, disconnect it first.

What gets shared

Propulsion receives your steps, active minutes, distance, active calories and heart rate.

Steps count toward active challenges.

For now, your data syncs when you open Propulsion. Open the app at least once a day, and before a challenge ends, so all your activity counts.

Check permissions

When you connect, Fitbit lets you check or uncheck data categories. An unchecked category blocks that data: activity and exercise must be allowed.

These choices can't be changed afterwards. To fix them:

  1. Open the Google Health app, tap Connections at the top left, then Partner apps.
  2. Tap Propulsion, then disconnect it.
  3. In Propulsion, tap your avatar at the top left, then Settings → Activity tracking, and tap Connect next to Fitbit.
  4. On the authorization screen, check every category, then accept.

You can also remove access from your Google account: on the third-party connections page, choose Propulsion, then Remove access. Then reconnect Fitbit in Propulsion as in step 3.

If nothing shows up

Open the Google Health app first and check that your data is there. With a watch, it syncs to the app over Bluetooth, and only then can Propulsion retrieve the data. So keep Bluetooth on and your device charged.

Also check that you used the same Google account in Google Health and in Propulsion. If Google Health has your data but Propulsion still doesn't after you reopen it, disconnect and reconnect the integration.

Your data

Your health data is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on Canadian servers, and never shared without your permission.
