Propulsion gets your steps from a health app or a watch. Pick the section that matches your phone.
To open activity tracking in Propulsion: tap your avatar at the top left, then Settings (the gear at the top right), then Activity tracking.
I have an iPhone
- In Propulsion, open Activity tracking and tap Connect next to Apple Health.
- Accept every permission requested.
Do you have a watch from another brand (COROS, Polar, Suunto, VeryFit, etc.)? First turn on syncing from your watch to Apple Health in the watch's app. For COROS: Profile > Settings > Third-party apps > Data sync > Apple Health.
I have a Samsung Galaxy
- Open Samsung Health (already installed on your phone, otherwise download it here), finish the setup and accept the Physical activity permission.
- Check that your steps show up in Samsung Health.
- In Propulsion, open Activity tracking and tap Connect next to Samsung Health. Allow every data type.
Do you have a Galaxy Watch? Nothing else to do: it already sends its data to Samsung Health.
I have another Android phone (Pixel, Motorola, etc.)
- Download Google Health from the Play Store and sign in with your Google account.
- Accept the Physical activity permission and check that your steps show up in Google Health.
- In Propulsion, open Activity tracking and choose Fitbit. This is normal, even without a Fitbit watch: this connector reads your Google Health data.
- Sign in with the same Google account and check every data category.

I have a Garmin watch
In Propulsion, open Activity tracking and choose Garmin. It works on iPhone and Android alike. Your watch must first be paired with the Garmin Connect app (Android, iPhone).
What about without a health app?
Your phone's pedometer can count your steps if you accepted the motion permission (Motion & Fitness on iPhone, Physical activity on Android). On Android, however, it only counts while Propulsion is open, so many of your steps may not be counted. The methods above are much more reliable.
Frequently asked questions
I get a "This app is blocked" message with Google Fit.
Google is shutting down Google Fit on December 31, 2026, and new connections are currently blocked. Use the Samsung Health or Google Health method above instead.
Can I add my steps manually?
Not in Propulsion. However, if steps from the last few days weren't counted, you can enter them by hand in the health app you connected (Apple Health, Google Health or Samsung Health). Propulsion picks them up the next time you open it. On iPhone: Health app > Browse > Activity > Steps > Add Data. Your workouts (walking, running, cycling) can be added directly in Propulsion: see how to add an activity.
Are my steps counted twice?
Connect only one step source at a time. If you switch sources, disconnect the old one first (including Google Fit or the pedometer). Avoid switching during a challenge: see how to change your source.
I don't see Samsung Health in the list.
Android options only appear on an Android phone. On an iPhone, you'll see Apple Health.
My watch isn't on the list.
On iPhone, most watches work if their app syncs to Apple Health. On Android, only those that write to Samsung Health or Google Health work for now. See the list of compatible devices.
My source is connected, but my steps don't arrive.
Your data arrives when you open Propulsion: open the app at least once a day, and before a challenge ends. For other causes, see My device is connected but I don't see any data: what should I do?
