How do I connect my device or app to Propulsion?

Updated October 28, 2026

Propulsion counts your steps and activities from a source you connect in the app. Here is how to choose the right one and connect it. For detailed steps by phone, see How do I get my steps counted in Propulsion?

Where to connect a source

In the Propulsion app, on iPhone and Android alike:

  1. Tap your avatar at the top left.
  2. Tap Settings (the gear at the top right).
  3. Open Activity tracking.
  4. Tap Connect next to the provider of your choice.

Which source to choose

Phone Recommended source
iPhone Apple Health (or Garmin)
Samsung Galaxy Samsung Health directly (or Garmin, or Health Connect)
Other Android (Pixel, Motorola…) Health Connect (or Garmin)

On Android, Health Connect gathers the steps and workouts from your health apps and, on Android 14 and up, the steps the phone counts itself. In Propulsion, the source is called Health Connect. Health Connect guide

Do you have a Fitbit watch? Propulsion's Fitbit connector is removed on October 30, 2026, because Google is shutting down the old Fitbit connection. The direct Google Health connector is awaiting approval. On iPhone, in Google Health (version 5.05 or later), turn on sharing with Apple Health in the app's settings, then connect Apple Health. On Android, turn on sharing to Health Connect in Google Health, then connect Health Connect. Fitbit and Google Health guide

Google Fit shuts down on December 31, 2026 and new connections are blocked. An existing connection still works. See what to do

Propulsion has no other direct connection. In particular, there is no direct Strava connection. On Android, your Strava GPS workouts can come in through Health Connect (but not steps).

Your brand is not on the list?

On iPhone, most watches and apps work if they share their data with Apple Health. Turn on that sharing in your brand's app, then connect Apple Health in Propulsion.

On Android, your watch is compatible if its app writes your steps to Health Connect. Turn on that sharing in your brand's app, then connect Health Connect in Propulsion. See the list of apps and watches that work on Android.

One source at a time

Connect only one step source at a time. If you switch sources, disconnect the old one first (including Google Fit or the pedometer), and avoid doing it during a challenge. On Android with Health Connect, the order of your sources in Health Connect prevents doubled steps: see how.

What about the phone's pedometer?

On iPhone, with no source connected, your phone's pedometer can count your steps if you accepted the motion permission. On Android 14 and up, connect Health Connect: the phone counts your steps there itself, even without a watch. On Android 13 and lower, the pedometer only counts while Propulsion is open: connect a source instead.

For a workout that was not captured, tap the + button at the bottom right of the Propulsion screen (see how). Steps can't be added manually.
